Synthesis and Adsorption/Catalytic Properties of the Metal Organic Framework CuBTC

Abstract: CuBTC (Copper(II) benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate) is one of the most well characterized and widely studied metal organic framework (MOF) structures for potential use in industrial applications due to its relatively easy synthesis and excellent textural and physicochemical properties. In this comprehensive review, a different perspective on MOF materials for future sustainability is presented by critically examining the recent works that have considered the synthesis and adsorption/catalytic applications of CuBTC… Show more

“…The MOF Basolite ® C300 (Cu-BTC) consists of Cu 2+ and trimesic acid (benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid), and is relatively easy to produce via various synthetic pathways [33]. Furthermore, its water adsorption mechanism has been studied thoroughly [34].…”

“…Their porosity,w hicha rises from the porous structure of MOF,a ccentuatest heir catalytic activity,a nd the uniformity of their pore and channel size results in catalytic selectivity. [13][14][15] MOF derivatives, such as Cu-MOF derived by reduction, not only have dualm icro pore size distribution but also show superior structurals tability compared with HKUST-1. [16,17] In addition, modification of the structure of MOFs such as forming hollow micro/nanostructuresw ith unique structural properties is generating at remendous amount of interestf or widespreada pplications, especiallyi nc atalysis.…”
