Synthesis and Antibacterial Study of Some Schiff Bases Complexes

Abstract: Abstract. Novel Schiff bases (E)-N-(4-chlorobenzylidene)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl) acetohydrazide and (E)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-N'-((1-methoxynaphthalen-2-yl)methylene)acetohydrazide were synthesized and further used for the synthesis of metal complexes. All these synthesized Schiff bases and metal complexes were characterized and screened for antimicrobial activity against bacteria Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Bacillus subtilis.

“…They are applicable in medicinal and pharmaceutical fields due to a broad spectrum of biological and analytical activities like anti‐inflammatory, analgesic, antimicrobial, anticonvulsant, antituberculosic, anticancer, antioxidant, anthelmintic, fungicidal, antidepressants, antitumor, nematocide, and anticarcinogenic . Schiff bases are widely used as catalysts and many Schiff base complexes also show excellent catalytic activity in various reactions, and there have been many reports on their applications in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalyses . We used pyridoxal 5′‐phosphate (PLP) and 3‐(aminopropyl)‐triethoxysilane (APTEOS) for the preparation of Schiff base ligand in complexation with transition metal and anchored it into SBA‐15 (Scheme ).…”

[29][30][31][32][33] We used pyridoxal 5 0 -phosphate (PLP) and 3-(aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTEOS) for the preparation of Schiff base ligand in complexation with transition metal and anchored it into SBA-15 (Scheme 1). PLP is water-soluble, naturally present in many foods, and available as a dietary supplement.…”
