Synthesis and Application of ZIF‐8 MOF Incorporated in a TiO2@Chitosan Nanocomposite as a Strong Nanocarrier for the Drug Delivery of Acyclovir

Abstract: Recently, metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have been effectively established as potential nanocarriers for the drug delivery. In this study, we have examined a novel framework containing TiO2@Chitosan@ZIF‐8 for the delivery of acyclovir (ACV). The structure elucidation and physicochemical characterization of the prepared nanocarrier were investigated by various spectroscopic techniques such as Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), ultraviolet‐visible spectroscopy (UV‐Vis), energy‐dispersive X‐ray spe… Show more

“…Considering the significance of the previous research related to the need of new drug delivery systems to find a suitable and practical nanocarrier, 36–38 herein, we were able to report a novel magnetic nanocomposite including NiFe 2 O 4 @MIL-101(Fe)/GO, as a carrier for the drug delivery of TC (Scheme 1). Moreover, the antibacterial properties of NiFe 2 O 4 @MIL-101(Fe)/GO, pure TC and the drug-loaded nanocarrier were compared against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by agar well diffusion and MIC methods which showed significant results.…”

“…As illustrated, the stretching vibrations due to Mg–O and Fe–O in MgFe 2 O 4 NPs are appeared at 435 and 575 cm −1 . Moreover, the main absorption bonds in ZIF-8 structure are appeared at 2925, 1589 and 485 cm −1 due to stretching vibrations of C−H, C=N and Zn–N bonds, respectively 26 .…”

“…From these kinetic studies, GEM is proposed to be released from the nZIF-8’s framework by the drug leaching through the pore openings upon dissociation of the nZIF-8 framework in acidic media. Indeed, these findings are in agreement with those reported in the literature. , …”
