Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of New Benzo[f]furo[2,3‐h]‐ and Benzo[f]pyrano[2,3‐h]coumarin Derivatives.

Abstract: Furocoumarin (III) and pyranocoumarin (V) and their precursors (I) and (IV) are tested as antiinflammatory/antioxidant agents. They inhibit superoxide radical formation, reveal hydroxyl-radical scavenging activity, and show inhibitory activity against soybean lipoxygenase in vitro. However, in most cases the precursors are more potent than the products. -(TSOUKKA, M.; LITINAS*, K. E.; NICOLAIDES, D. N.; HADJIPAVLOU-LITINA, D. J.; J. Heterocycl. Chem. 44 (2007) 3, 529-534; Dep.
