“…Compound 1 joins a family of mononuclear, polynuclear, and polymeric complexes with the mono- (bicH 2 − ), di- (bicH 2− ), and trianionic (bic 3- ) derivatives of bicine as ligands [11, 19, 20]. The members of this family are listed in Table 4, together with the coordination modes of the bicinate ligands for convenient comparison.…”

“…As an analogous ligand, N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl) glycine is a widely used buffer in many biochemical studies. However, transition metal complexes with N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl) glycine has been less extensively studied, and only a few reports describing N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl) glycine complexes have appeared (Graham et al, 2009;Katsoulakou et al, 2011;Liu et al, 2013;Inomata et al, 2001;Messimeri et al, 2002). In the present report, we describe the synthesis and structure of title compound.…”

“…For N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)glycine complexes with transition metals, see: Graham et al (2009); Katsoulakou et al (2011); Liu et al (2013); Inomata et al (2001); Messimeri et al (2002). Iminodiacetic acid (Cui et al, 2008;Kong et al, 2008), nitrilotriacetic acid (Ma et al, 2009) and N-(2-carbamoylmethyl)iminodiacetic acid (Bugella-Altamirano et al, 2003) are also known to be effective ligands for transition metal ions.…”

“…A search of the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD; Groom et al, 2016) was carried out for structures containing the bicH 3 ligand. This revealed bicH 3 coordinating to a lanthanide metal (Inomata et al, 2001), Cd and Na (Katsoulakou et al, 2011), Cu, Ni and Zn (Thakuria & Das, 2007;Liu et al, 2013;Lo & Ng, 2010), Re, Mn and Fe (Kirillov et al, 2005;Sun et al, 1997;Graham et al, 2009). A related structure with copper and bromide (Yamaguchi et al, 1991) shows a very similar mononuclear crystal structure to the title compound.…”
