Synthesis and Characterization of Aluminum and Gallium Complexes of Heterocyclic Carboxaldehyde Thiosemicarbazones. Single-Crystal Structure of [(MeAl){NC4H3CHNNC(S)NiC3H7}(AlMe2)]2and (GaMe2)2[SC4H3CHNNC(S)NPh]

Abstract: Novel tetranuclear metal complexes with the formula [(MeM){NC4H3CHNNC(S)NR}(MMe2 )]2 (M = Al, R = i C3H7 (1); M = Ga, R = i C3H7 (2); M = Al, R = Me (3); M = Ga, R = Me (4)) result when pyrrolecarboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazone ligands are mixed with trimethylaluminum and -gallium. Four dinuclear metal compounds with the formula (MMe2)2[SC4H3CHNNC(S)NR] (M = Al, R = i C3H7 (5); M = Ga, R = i C3H7 (6); M = Al, R = C6H5 (7); M = Ga, R = C6H5 (8)) … Show more

“…Organometallic thiosemicarbazone complexes of Al and Ga have been prepared by reacting a trialkyl metal salt, R 3 M (M = Al, Ga), with a thiosemicarbazone ligand in toluene [124][125][126]. Indium(III) complexes were generally prepared using indium(III) halide/nitrate [127], while thallium(III) complexes were prepared using R 2 Tl(OH) [R = CH 3 , phenyl] [25,128,129].…”

“…In complexes 117-126, the -N 2 H, group deprotonates and the ligands bind via N 4 , N 3 , S-donor atoms, and in complexes 127-132, the of OH group deprotonates, and ligands bind via O, N 3 , S-donor atoms. The geometry is square planar with the fourth site occupied by Cl, Br, NCS (N-bonding), MeCO 2 (117)(118)(119)(120)(121)(122)(123)(124)(125)(126), or by PPh 3 or NH 3 (127)(128)(129)(130)(131)(132). The ligand is uninegative tridentate (P, N 3 , S-donor atoms) in complex [Ni(L)Y] NO 3 133 [204].…”

“…Considerable interest in Schiff base compounds containing thiosemicarbazones and their transition metal complexes has also grown in the areas of biology and chemistry due to biological activities [4][5][6], such as antitumoral [7][8][9][10][11], fungicidal [12,13], bactericidal [14], or antiviral [3], and nonlinear optical properties [15,16]. They have been used for metal analyses [17], for device applications related to telecommunications, optical computing, storage, and information processing [18].…”

“…The activity of these compounds [22,23] is due to their ability to form stable complexes with the essential metal ions. The chemistry of substituted thiosemicarbazides and their metal complexes has been a focus over the last three decades because thione compounds can act as anticarcinogenic or antitumour reagents [24][25][26][27]. Recently, numerous complexes of thiosemicarbazide derivatives have been prepared and characterized [28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36].…”
