Synthesis and characterization of bimetallic complexes with the bridging .eta.2(.sigma.,.sigma.)-1,3-butadiyne-1,4-diyl ligand

Abstract: The complex (7?5-C5H5XCO)2FeC^CC^CH was prepared by sequential treatment of LiC=CC^=C-SHCH3)3 with (775-C5H5XCO)2FeCI and tetrabutylammonium fluoride. The monometallic complexes (?75-C5H5)(CO)-LFeC=CC=CH (L = CO, PPh3) were deprotonated with sec-BuLi, and the resulting anions were trapped with (j75-C5H5)M(CO)"CI to form (7?5-C5H5XCO)LFeC=cC=CM-(CO)"foe-

“…Similar lithio-poly-ynyl complexes have also been described by Wong [15], Akita [16] and Gladysz [17]. When the lithio derivative was made in situ, followed by addition of [I(py) 2 ]BF 4 at À78°C, a yellow solution was obtained.…”

“…2+ , which can in turn be deprotonated to give butadiynediyl compounds as an alternative to Glaser/Hay coupling reactions, [42,45,129] transmetallation reactions with dilithio-butadiynediyl reagents [130] or copper diyn(di)yls formed in situ [131][132][133] and desilylation/ metallation protocols. [134] The complexes [M(CϵCH)-(dppe)(L)] (L = Cp*, M = Fe, Ru, Os; L = η 7 -C 7 H 7 , M = Mo) and [Ru(CϵCH)(dppm)Cp*] all react with 1 equiv.…”

“…Recently, a variety of polymers containing transition metals have been reported, in most of which transition metals are linked with pendant groups through -bonding as seen in the polymers containing ferrocene 17 or related transition metal complexes. Korshak, Sladkov, and Luneva 18 produced polymers with alternating RRЈSi and C'C units which were hard resins of yellow to dark brown colour.…”
