The synthesis of fluorinated metal‐organic frameworks (FMOFs) having fluorine‐lined channels has been reported in the literature. The hydrophobic channels present in FMOFs, wherein protruding fluorine atoms into the pores persuades hydrophobicity, have been utilized for the adsorption/separation of hydrocarbons. In few literature reports, it has been demonstrated that the FMOFs with exposed fluorine‐lined channels shows affinity toward the gaseous molecules because of the high electronegativity of fluorine atoms. Although there are few reports that explain the advantages of FMOFs toward gas adsorption and separation because of overall increase in the adsorption enthalpy, enhancement in gas uptake by FMOFs is not a universal phenomenon, but rather it is system specific and can differ from system to system.
