“…For example, poor solubility in most organic solvents, high softening and meting temperatures, and deeply color that often limit their widespread application in various advanced technologies [13,14,15,16,17,18,19]. Thus, many efforts have been devoted to improving the solubility, processability, and highly optical transparent of PIs by the incorporation of flexible or twist linkages [20,21,22,23], asymmetric noncoplanar units [24,25,26], bulky pendant groups [27,28,29], and fluorinated substituents [30,31,32,33,34] into the polymer backbones.…”

“…Unfortunately, it will sacrifice some of their advantageous properties by the modification method, such as thermal stability and mechanical property. It must be emphasized that much efforts have been devoted to synthesizing fluorinated polyimide by incorporation of fluorinated substituent, especially the trifluoromethyl group [24][25][26][27][28]. The optical transparency and solubility of fluorinated polyimide has been significantly improved, which resulted from low polarizability of the bond and the increase in free volume.…”

“…It is well known that fluorinated polyimide (FPIs) presented excellent solubility, outstanding mechanical properties, good thermal stability, high optical transparency, prominent hydrophobicity, low dielectric constants, low birefringence, and low refractive index. 23 29 These overall properties of FPIs are attributed to the special characteristics of fluorine, such as small dipole, high electron negativity, oxidization resistance, hydrophobicity, and low polarizability. Tapaswi et al 28 designed and synthesized two new perfluorodecylthio-substituted aromatic diamines, 2,4-diamino-1-(1 H ,1 H ,2 H ,2 H -perfluorodecathio)benzene and 2,2′-bis((1 H ,1 H ,2 H ,2 H -perfluorodecyl)thio) (1,1′-biphenyl)4,4′-diamine, and then polycondensed with 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) to prepare two new perfluorinated PIs.…”
