Synthesis and characterization of manganese sulphide thin films deposited by spray pyrolysis

Abstract: Manganese sulphide (MnS) thin films have been deposited onto glass substrate by a low cost spray-pyrolysis technique at 220 °C. The as-deposited MnS thin films have been characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction, UV visible spectroscopy and photo electrochemical (PEC) measurement. The SEM and AFM images showed that the MnS thin films were well covered onto the substrate surface. The as-deposited raw thin … Show more

“…Depending upon the deposition conditions, the structural, electrical ,and optical properties of these materials can be controlled in many ways . Materials containing manganese are interesting because their application is possible in many areas of modern technology such as solar cells as a window/buffer materials, sensors, photoconductors, optical mass memories, solar selective coatings, short wavelengths optoelectronics materials, storage, MnS belong to the family of diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS) having a wide band gap ( E g =3.1 eV) . Preparation of its thin films has been carried out by different methods such as radio‐frequency sputtering, hydrothermal, molecular beam epitaxy, SILAR, and chemical bath deposition (CBD) .…”

“…During the past few decades by concerning their chemical, physical and structural properties manganese chalcogenides (MnS, MnSe, MnTe, etc.) have attracted current research flow [2]. Among these manganese compounds, MnS belongs to the family of DMS materials containing manganese are interesting because their applications are possible in many areas of modern technology.…”
