Synthesis and characterization of new complexes of some divalent transitional metals with isonicotinamido-4-chlorobenzalaldimine

Abstract: New complexes of N-isonicotinamido-4-chlorobenzalaldimine (INHCBA) with Cu(II), Co(II) and Cd(II), having formula of the type [M(INHCBA)(ac) 2 ]·xH 2 O (M = Cu 2+ , x = 1, M = Co 2+ , x = 2, M = Cd 2+ , x = 0, ac = CH 3 COO -), and with Cu(II), Mn(II) and Zn(II), having formula of the type [M(INHCBA) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]SO 4 ·xH 2 O (M = Cu 2+ , Mn 2+ , x = 2 and Zn 2+ x = = 2.5) were synthesized and characterized by analytical and physico-chemical techniques, i.e., elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis-NIR and EPR spectros… Show more

“…The absorption at 400 nm may be assigned to 4 T 1g (F) fi 4 A 2g (F). These are similar to those reported for other six co-ordinated Co(III) complexes (Raman et al, 2009;Howlader and Islam, 2007;Lever and Mantovani, 1971;Lever, 1968;Guoy and Ballhausen, 1963;Ababei et al, 2011).…”

“…The products were characterized by appropriate analytical methods—elemental analysis, NMR, and infrared spectroscopy. The characteristic infrared (IR) vibrational bands are listed in the Experimental part and are in accordance with the expected values [29]. Infrared spectra of the Schiff bases contain a strong and sharp peak near 1670 cm −1 , characteristic of the valence vibration of the carbonyl group (amide I).…”

“…The magnetic properties of 1 in the form of an χ M vs. T plot (χ M is the molar magnetic susceptibility) is shown in Fig. 29,[33][34][35] The magnetic moment values calculated for 4 are in the range of 1.85-1.88 µ B . The observed effective moment of complexes 1 and 3 (having square-planar geometry 15,17 ) at 76 K is 2.12 µ B , while that at room temperature is 2.20 µ B .…”
