Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(Dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐d]pyrrole) Derivatives Containing Thiophene Moieties and Their Application to Organic Devices

Abstract: A series of conjugated polymers (PDTP, PDTPT, PDTPTT) based on dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐d]pyrrole (DTP) containing branched side‐chains is synthesized. The synthesized polymers show good solubility due to branched side‐chains in the organic solvent in the absence of heat treatment. To increase the oxidation potential, unsubstituted thiophene units are introduced into the polymer backbone. The introduction of unsubstituted thiophene units increases the oxidation potential, elevates degradation temperature, and enha… Show more

“…Therefore, thermal annealing usually improves mobility compared with nonannealed devices due to enhanced intermolecular ordering and π‐π stacking. Thermal annealing effects such as enhancement of charge‐carrier mobility usually take place when the polymers of the semiconducting layer have an ordered phase after annealing 43. The FET characteristics of PBTSB and PBTFN at different annealing temperature are summarized in Table 2.…”

“…Intrinsically conducting polymers (ICPs) are smart materials that can be integrated into organic electronics (organic light emitting diodes, 1 organic thin film transistors, 2 photovoltaic cells, 3,4 electrochromic devices, 5,6 in the fields of energy storage, 7,8 ) by modifying their chemical structure and optimizing electrochemical and optical properties of the materials. It is a fact that the share of influence over the optical and electrochemical properties for the polymer chain backbone is considerably higher than the nature of the substituted functional units of the polymer.…”
