“…It should also be pointed out that various optically transparent crystallized glasses containing Nb 2 O 5 -based nanocrystals have been reported so far [2,[43][44][45][46][47][48][49]. These previous studies strongly suggest that NbO n polyhedra would not be present as a network former, but rather exist as a modifier in the space created in the inside of network rings.…”

“…Bismuth niobate layered crystals such as SrBi 2 Nb 2 O 9 , that is, the Aurivillius family of ferroelectric oxides, have received much attention because of their piezoelectric, pyroelectric, and catalytic properties. The formation of the fluorite‐like (Sr,Ba)Bi 2 Nb 2 O 9 nanocrystals has been reported in the crystallization of x (SrO/BaO–Bi 2 O 3 –Nb 2 O 5 )–(100 – x )Li 2 B 4 O 7 glasses ( x = 10–60) (mol%), in which layered perovskite‐type (Sr,Ba)Bi 2 Nb 2 O 9 nanocrystals with an orthorhombic structure are induced through the intermediate fluorite‐like nanocrystals 166–169 . Bi 3 TiNbO 9 ferroelectrics are synthesized through the crystallization of 40Bi 2 O 3 –(10–15)TiO 2 –(10–15)Nb 2 O 5 –(33.4–40)B 2 O 3 glasses 170 .…”
