“…A distinctive characteristic of these complexes is that the carbonyl bond distances in the bound ligands have increased, by as much as +0.04 Å, and the amide bond distances have decreased by as much as −0.04 Å. Bond distances for the donor-metal atoms are similar to those in the copper (II) complexes reported by Lapouyade [30], Lebon [1,31], and Choi [32]. 4 , which has no spacer between the amide function and the pyridine ring.…”

“…The monodepronated Adpa acts as a tetradentate ligand toward a copper(II) ion. The copper atom is coordinated by three N atoms (N1, N2, N3, one oxygen atom (O2) of the (Adpa) and one chloride anion (Cl2), resulting a five-coordinated mononuclear copper(II) complex, which is different from the reported synanticarboxylate bridged polymeric one-dimensional chain copper(II) complex {[Cu(l-pmea)](ClO 4 ) Á H 2 O} (pmea = bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amino-2-ethanoic acid) [19]. The fivecoordinated copper(II) complex [(Adpa)CuCl] forms a trigonal bipyramidal, similar to the geometry of reported [Cu(apme)(Cl)](BPh 4 ) (apme = tris(2-pyridylmethyl) amine) [21].…”

“…d x2-y2 ( 2 B 1 ? 2 E) [19] transition in a tetragonal ligand field, in which the copper(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment. Because the d-d transition bands of [(Adpa)Cu(H 2 O)](ClO 4 ) (2) and [(Adpa)CuCl] (3) in aqueous solution were 866 and 863 nm, respectively, rather than 650 nm, we conclude that the copper(II) atoms in the complexes (2) and (3) mainly adopt a trigonal bipyramidal rather than a distorted square-pyramidal geometry [20].…”

“…N,N-Bis(2-pyridymethyl)glycine (bpg) was synthesized by a literature method (Choi et al, 2004). Complex (I) was hydrothermally synthesized under autogenous pressure; a mixture of bpg, Cu(NO 3 ) 2 Á6H 2 O, NaN 3 and water in a molar ratio of 1:2:2:5000 was sealed in a Teflon-lined autoclave and heated to 413 K for 3 d. Blue crystals were obtained in ca 30% yield based on copper.…”
