Synthesis and characterization of thermoplastic starch/PVA/cardanol oil composites loaded with in‐situ silver nanoparticles

Abstract: A novel nanocomposite films of native and modified starch/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/sorbitol/cardanol oil with in situ synthesis of silver nanoparticles were prepared. The surface morphology of modified starch was found to be more homogenous than native starch with a good distribution of silver nanoparticles. This result indicated to boost in plasticization after starch modification as observed by scanning electron microscope. Transmission electron microscope confirms the formation of silver nanoparticles with d… Show more

“…Disk diffusion technique. The antimicrobial activity of the prepared BC/PVA/Ch/CuO-NPs composites was investigated through disk diffusion approach as described by Yahia et al 144 , with minor modifications. In brief, 100 µl of serially diluted pathogens (10 8 CFU/mL) was separately distributed on Petri dishes of nutrient agar media, along with disks (5 mm in diameter) of the composite membranes loaded with different concentrations of CuO-NPs.…”

“…The antimicrobial activity of the prepared CNF/PVA, CNF/PVA/PE1, and CNF/PVA/PE2 fiber reinforced hydrogels was carried out through the disk diffusion approach according to Yahia et al 81 , with minor modifications. In brief, 100 µL of serially diluted pathogens were separately distributed on the Petri dishes of Mueller Hinton agar medium along with disks (5 mm in diameter) of the composite membranes loaded with different concentrations of propolis.…”
