Synthesis and characterizations of calcium di(meth)acrylate divinyl monomers and melt surface graft functionalization with linear low density poly(ethylene)

Abstract: Calcium diacrylate (CDA) and calcium dimethacrylate (CDM) divinyl monomers were synthesized by a solvo thermal method. The FTIR spectra showed a peak at 1650 cm À1 due to the presence of a C¼ ¼C for both CDA and CDM. Proton NMR and carbon NMR confirmed the structure of CDA and CDM synthesized by a solvo thermal method. DSC determined the melting temperatures of CDA and CDM. XRD indicated the presence of a d 110 plane peak for CDA and CDM. The % weight residue that remained above 700 C in TGA method confirmed t… Show more

“…While increasing the (% weight of DCP), the % of C=C formation was increased. One recent publication indicated the melt surface grafting of succinimide with HDPE in the presence of DCP, we found that while increasing the % weight of SI, the % C=C formation also increased linearly 14 . This is in accordance with our results.…”

“…The increment in the % loading of AE‐DCP increased the RI [CO/CH] . The reason is explained as follows: (1) due to the availability of enormous free radicals35, 39 derived from homolytic decomposition of DCP, which led to the grafting of AE onto LDPE. The universal log–log plot was used to find out the order of functionalization reaction (i.e.)…”
