Synthesis and crystal structures of copper(II) and silver(I) complexes of a semi-rigid bipyrazolyl ligand

Abstract: A semi-rigid bipyrazolyl ligand, namely 5-tertbutyl-1,3-bis[(3 0 ,5 0 -diethyl-1H-pyrazol-4 0 -yl) methylene]benzene, and its Ag(I) and Cu(II) complexes have been prepared and structurally characterized. X-ray analysis demonstrates that the Ag(I) complex is based on a dinuclear molecular rectangle, while the Cu(II) complex displays a mono-strand helical structure. Two different conformations, namely cis,cis and cis, trans have been observed for this bipyrazolyl ligand.

“…We have recently reported the synthesis and crystal structures of a semi-rigid m-xylylene-bridged C 4 -linked bipyrazolyl ligand as well as its Ag(I) and Cu(II) complexes [6]. As one might expect, the relative orientations of the two pyrazolyl rings is a key factor to determine the structure of the metal-bipyrazole complexes.…”

“…177 Cyclometallated phosphine and arsine gold(II) dimers were reacted with several bis(alkynes) to give binuclear alkynyl gold(I) complexes. 178 Syntheses and structures of dinuclear silver(I) complexes with arsine and pyridyl ligands 179 as well as bridging bipyrazol ligands 180 were reported. Cyclic phosphinimines can coordinate silver(I) and gold(I) quite similar to carbene ligands.…”
