Synthesis and engineering porosity of a mixed metal Fe2Ni MIL-88B metal–organic framework

Abstract: A new rational approach has been developed for the synthesis of a mixed metal MIL-88B metal-organic framework based on a neutral mixed metal cluster, such as Fe(2)Ni(μ(3)-O). Unlike the conventional negative charged single metal cluster, the use of the neutral mixed metal cluster as nodes in the framework avoids the need of a compensating anion inside the porous MIL-88B system; thus the mixed metal MIL-88B becomes porous. The flexibility of the mixed metal MIL-88B can be controlled by terminal ligands with dif… Show more

“…This product is named as sheet NFN-MOF for its sheet-like morphology. [41] Based on the above, one can conclude that the sheet and bulk NFN-MOFs share the same composition, crystalline structure, and pore structure, regardless if they are formed in bulk or grown on NF. It is to be noted that the slight variation in the metal composition, Fe 2 Ni in NFN-MOF versus Fe 3 in NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe 3 ), does not influence the diffraction pattern appreciably.…”

“…For comparison purposes, the NFN-MOF was also prepared without addition of the NF, and the products were termed the bulk NFN-MOF. [41] The porous characteristics of the sheet and bulk NFN-MOFs were analyzed with N 2 sorption/desorption isotherms recorded at 77 K as shown in Figure 1b. This product is named as sheet NFN-MOF for its sheet-like morphology.…”

“…In addition, a small peak centered at 445 nm appears in MIL-100(Fe) and Pd@MIL-100(Fe), respectively, which may be due to the transition ( 6 A 1g => 4 A 1g + 4 Eg(G)) in Fe(III) [38,39]. In generally, the typical surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak of Pd NPs is located around 300 nm [40,41].…”
