“…Furthermore, a comparison was made to understand the effect of carbide particles and metal particles on the hardness of Az91D alloy. For this purpose, the hardness value of Az91D/SiC composite was collected from literature (Venkatesh et al , 2019) and presented in Figure 3. As obviously seen from Figure 3, the Az91D/SiC composite showed the superior hardness value compared to all the composites investigated in this study.…”

“…This is attributed by the contribution of hybrid particles in the increase of Van der Waals forces between the molecules of WC, SiO 2 and AZ91D alloy(Xia et al, 2018). Similar type of investigation has been done byVenkatesh et al (2019) on AZ91D alloy with SiC particle reinforcement. He achieved the maximum hardness of 94 HV while adding 13 Vol.% SiC with AZ91D alloy.…”

“…Table 7 shows AZ91D alloy reinforced with 12% volume of SiC with improved mechanical properties such as hardness of 94.24 VHN and UTS of 193.95 MPa. 74 Al-Si-Mg was matrix reinforced with SiC to form the composite with volumes of 2% and 15% SiC fabricated by the casting with stir process for improvement in the mechanical properties such as strength, hardness, and wear resistance. The SiC particles were evenly distributed in the matrix phase.…”
