Synthesis and optical properties of well-aligned ZnO nanorod array on an undoped ZnO film

Abstract: High-density well-aligned ZnO nanorod array was successfully synthesized on a PLD prepared undoped ZnO film by a catalyst-free method. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy show that the nanorods are well-oriented perpendicular to the substrate. The photoluminescence from free excitons and Raman spectra of the ZnO nanorods reflect the high purity and nearly defect free structure of nanorods. The well-aligned feature of the nanorod array is attributed to the nanorods’ epitaxial growth from the ZnO … Show more

“…4. Photoluminescence spectra of ZnO nanorod and CdS-ZnO composite nanorod mode of hexagonal ZnO is observed at 439 cm -1 [13], whereas after CdS deposition, one can observe a couple of peaks at 301 cm -1 and 438 cm -1 . The peak at 301 cm -1 corresponds to 1LO from hexagonal CdS [14].…”

“…1 Most of the previous works about the optical properties of ZnO with various morphologies were conducted in the linear area. [2][3][4][5] More recently, the nonlinear optical properties of ZnO, for instance, second harmonic generation ͑SHG͒, 6-10 third harmonic generation, 11,12 and multiphoton absorption ͑MPA͒ induced luminescence, [13][14][15] have been investigated. However, relatively weak SHG emission to the band edge emission was observed in singlecrystal ZnO bulk.…”
