Synthesis and Optimization of a Free-Radical/Cationic Hybrid Photosensitive UV Curable Resin Using Polyurethane Acrylate and Graphene Oxide

Abstract: Cost-effective, practical, and efficiently performing photosensitive resin composite materials are essential, as the current materials are expensive, lack better alternatives, and do not meet 3D printing standards. In this study, based on orthogonal experiments for photosensitive resin curing, we prepared a free-radical/cationic hybrid photosensitive UV cured resin (UVR) using acrylic ester and epoxy resin as the prepolymers, tripropylenediol diacrylate (TPGDA) as the active diluent, and triaryl sulfonium salt… Show more

“…This allows for greater solubilization into the resin. [ 73 ] Graphene functionalization has also been researched to increase the biocompatibility of graphene as a material. [ 80 ] Biodegradable and conductive nerve guiding conduits were printed with a PEGylated graphene oxide formulation with a PU resin with high tensile stress (3.51,0.54 MPa) and strain (170%), conductivity (1.1 × 10 3 S.cm ‐1 ), and a low contact angle 72°.…”

“…Researchers have overcome these defects through techniques such as surface modification and doping ( Fleck et al, 2021 ; Hua et al, 2021 ). Mahmoudi et al (2021) reported a photo initiator-free process for the 3D printing of a pure commercial epoxy polymer, without any resin modification ( Huang et al, 2022b ). A novel radical-free/cationic hybrid photosensitive resin was fabricated by a cationic curing mechanism with the process of UV-curing.…”

“…Surface coatings with desired functionalities can be obtained by layering the photocurable coatings on the substrate and curing them into films under UV irradiation (Choi et al 2021). Noteworthy, in recent years, the integration of UV-curing technology and surface hydrophobic modification has become a research hotspot (Cui et al 2022;Huang et al 2022). For example, Periolatto and Ferrero (2015) combined self-assembly and UV-curing technology to prepare washable cotton fibers, and the modified fabric still exhibited a certain hydrophobic effect as well as good softness and permeability.…”
