Synthesis and photophysical, electrochemical, antibacterial, and DNA binding studies of triazinocalix[2]arenes

Abstract: The synthesized calix[2]arene[2]triazine derivatives bind effectively to DNA and exhibit efficient antibacterial activity against B. cereus, S. aureus and E. coli bacteria as supported by docking studies.

“…The cathodic and anodic peak potentials (E pC , E pA ) as well as peak currents (i pC , i pA ), which correspond to the electron acceptor and donor, changed with respect to the increased δ values and shifted towards more negative and positive region (Table S12). Importantly, plots of both peak currents against square root of δ yielded straight lines (Figure b), where the linear dependency demonstrated good stability of PYNAP with the increase in the δ values …”

“…The docked pose with minimum energy clearly showed that the minor groove mode played a predominant role in the interaction, as can be seen from the Docking score 59,60 listed in Table 2. The negative values of the binding free energy of the docked complexes suggest that the compounds reasonably Complexes 8b and 9b have a good interaction with the receptor (Fig.…”

“…Solankee and co-workers reported [ 63 ] that compound 149 ( Figure 14 ) exhibited promising antibacterial activity against Micrococcus flavus with a zone of inhibition value (iv) of 7 mm, which was slightly less active than the standard Ampicillin (iv = 8mm) [ 54 ]. Rajavelu and Rajkumar reported [ 64 , 65 ] synthesis of triazino- oxacalixarenes 150 and 151 and their good antibacterial activity against E. coli (MIC = 50 μgmL −1 ). These oxacalixarenes were docked against the covalent acyl enzyme PDB: 1PW8, and the most potent compound 151 exhibited a good docking score, glide energy, a strong hydrogen bond and hydrophobic interactions with the amino acids in the active pocket.…”
