Synthesis and Properties of Aromatic-Terminated Diacetylene Organogelators and Their Application to Photopatterning of Polydiacetylenes

Abstract: A series of simply structured diacetylene-diamide-based gelators (DAGs) with aromatic terminals were synthesized, and their gelation and subsequent photopolymerization abilities were analyzed. DAGs with an adequate spacer length (n) and tolyl terminals (DA-T n ) interacted with aromatic solvents, such as benzene and xylenes, at elevated temperatures. During the subsequent cooling process, the DAGs interacted with each other through CH−π interactions at their terminal positions. They also formed one-dimensiona… Show more

“…3,5 The essential advantage of chromic sensors is that they provide visible color indications in response to various external stimuli instead of switching to digital information. 4,6−9 Nontoxic polydiacetylene (PDA) chromic polymers have more potential for future use in the medical, biological, chemical, and food sectors as an indicator in response to various external stimuli like pH, 7 solvent, 6 light, 8 heat, 4 and ions. 10 Among all the aspects, temperature is one of the crucial parameters that affect the quality of various products; therefore, PDA thermochromic polymers have the potential to be temperature-sensing materials because of their optical properties, sensitivity, and extended conjugation length.…”

“…The safety of frozen items is critical at the consumer level throughout the supply chain . Various temperature-sensing devices, i.e., SensorQ, volatile organic compounds, gas sensors, and chromic indicators, have been previously developed to monitor specific temperature ranges for these applications. , Among all these, chromic sensors have proven significant in an array of sensing applications. , The essential advantage of chromic sensors is that they provide visible color indications in response to various external stimuli instead of switching to digital information. , Nontoxic polydiacetylene (PDA) chromic polymers have more potential for future use in the medical, biological, chemical, and food sectors as an indicator in response to various external stimuli like pH, solvent, light, heat, and ions .
