Synthesis and property analysis of green resin-based composites

Abstract: The research on polymeric composites is always in the stage of enhancing the properties. Several researches have been explored in recent decades to investigate the behaviour of both man-made fibre and bio-fibre-reinforced composites. In all these works, an artificial polymeric resin has been utilized as the matrix and it has been revealed that though they provide competent properties, the composites are partially degradable. To enhance the degradability to the fullest extent, both the reinforcements and the ma… Show more

“…These naturally derived resins will be more affordable than other resins and can be used in various cutting-edge industrial fields. The process variables used during the synthesis of bioresin, such as pressure, temperature, catalyst, initiator, and so forth, have a significant impact on the composite property [28].…”

“…98 For this reason, fully green composite is burdened with a set of preconditions like it must degrade and decompose by the action of air, light, heat, microorganisms or other environmental factors without leaving adverse impact 107,237 and the sourcing of both the matrix and reinforcement will be from renewable sources without encouraging carbon positivity as much as possible. Therefore, the domain for the selection of resin and fibers consequently narrowed down, and yet within this domain, many of the explored resins proved not to be suitable 238 while others, as well as the fibers, are associated with many undesirable performance barriers. Therefore, from this small domain with existing know-how, developing green composite as a replacement of or at least competitor to predominating non-biodegradable high performance and durable composite is the main challenge and parallelly, is a motivation also for researchers across the world.…”
