Synthesis and Spectral Properties of Fluorescent Dithienylmaleimides

Abstract: A convenient preparative method of the synthesis of dithienylethenes based on maleimides was proposed. Previously, difficult accessible dithienylethene derivatives, in which 2-thienyl substituents are attached to the double bond of maleimide, have been synthesized. The spectral properties of the dithienylmaleimides were studied and it has been shown that these compounds do not belong to photochromes but they possess fluorescent properties.
