Synthesis and structure elucidation of discotic liquid crystalline perylene imide benzimidazole

Abstract: We report the synthesis of a soluble perylene imide benzimidazole (PIBI) and its structural, thermotropic, optical and electrochemical characterization with emphasis on discotic liquid crystalline properties.
