Synthesis and Structure of μ2‐Oxobis[chloro(tetra‐p‐tolylporphyrinato)molybdenum(IV)]: A Complex with Central MoIVOMoIV Unit

Abstract: alkyllithium compound 18. Ring-opening at the stage of the radical anion 15 should result in formation of n-propylbenzene 14 as the major product via the secondary radical 12. Additionally, the corresponding ethylene adducts are also obtained. Reaction of a mixture of a-methylbenzocyclobutene and 1 indicates that the latter is cleaved approximately twice as rapidly. The rates of separate runs, however, are not comparable, since the yields are markedly dependent on the nature of the lithium powder and on the mi… Show more

“…[36] In classical coordination chemistry of molybdenum, however, the formation of poly-nuclear molybdenum complexes having Mo-O-Mo bond angles close to 180º is not surprising. Indeed, such geometry was found in complexes [(MoO2)2(H2O)2(μ-O)(BIMIPY-H + )2]•4DMSO•2H2O (where BIMIPY is 4-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-5-(hydroxymethyl)-2methylpyridin-3-ol) [37], [Mo(TTP)Cl2]O2•CH2Cl2 (where TTP is 5,10,15,20-tetra-p-tolyl porphyrin)[38], and many other compounds.…”
