“…The substitution can take place either at the Ca-site or at the Co-site. There have been a number of reports on partially substituted elements at Ca-site, for instance, Na [11][12][13][14], Y [8], Ag [15][16][17][18], Bi [12,19], Ba [18], Nd [14], Gd [20], Yb [21], and other rare earth elements [22][23][24]. The effect of partial substitution at the Ca-site is mainly to change the charge carrier concentration which results in a change in resistivity.…”

“…Partial substitution for Ca site was one widely used way due to the advantages of convenience and capability of adjusting carrier [5,8,18] based on its strong electron correlation nature [19,20]. The electrical properties of polycrystalline Ca 3 Co 4 O 9 could be enhanced by substitution of Ag for Ca site, by the addition of Ag 2 O to Ca 3 Co 4 O 9 polycrystalline matrix [21,22] or by both substitution for Ca site and addition of Ag phase to the matrix at the same time [23,24]. The thermal conductivity could be restrained by substitution of atoms with high mass such as Ba, Dy, Eu, Sr for Ca site [25][26][27][28].…”

“…(b), Seebeck coefficient ( S ) is positive for all the samples and displays a reverse trend compared with electrical conductivity. The partial substitution of Ag + at the Cu 2+ sites increases the hole concentration and decreases S . Just like the electrical conductivity, the S of Ag‐added samples with 10, 15, 20 vol% shows metal‐like behavior.…”
