Synthesis and Toxicological Effect of Some New Pyrrole Derivatives as Prospective Insecticidal Agents against the Cotton Leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisduval)

Abstract: Herein, a series of biologically active pyrrole derivatives, namely 2- [(3-cyano-5-aryl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)acetyl}-N-phenyl-hydrazinecarbothioamides 8a-c, as insecticidal agents, were synthesized via adaptable, smoothly accessible 2-(2-oxo-2arylylethyl)malononitriles 1a-c. The structures were proved using infrared (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and mass spectrum (MS) techniques. Under laboratory conditions, the toxicological characteristics were tested towards Spodoptera littoralis, cotton leafworm insect… Show more

“…Via the leaf dipping bioassay method, the toxic activity of all newly prepared chalcone derivatives was established. , For the most active synthesized derivatives, the screening results helped us find out the appropriate concentrations that kill 50% (LC 50 ) of the second and fourth instar larvae of S. frugiperda.…”

“…The insecticidal activities of the DSPE-EB nanoparticles and EB-EC were measured by the leaf dipping method under the laboratory conditions [ 38 , 39 ]. The insecticidal activity of DSPE-PEG 2000 -NH 2 also was tested.…”

“…The insecticidal activity was evaluated with the leaf dip bioassay on some synthesized pyrimidine and thiazolidinone derivatives. We report here the results of lab testing for the target compounds so that we can determine the concentrations required to kill 50% (LC 50 ) of nymphs and adults of cowpea aphid (Aphis craccivora) insects. In this study, five concentrations of pyrimidine and thiazolidinone derivatives were prepared, and a surfactant, 0.1% Tween 80, was used.…”
