Synthesis and Tribological Characterization of Cast AA1100-B4C Composites

Abstract: Abstract:In the present work, the AA1100-B 4 C metal matrix composites were manufactured at 10% and 30% volume fractions of B 4 C.The composites were wear tested at different levels of normal load, sliding speed and sliding distances. The microstructure of worn surfaces pertaining to AA1100 alloy/ B 4 C composite reveals the detachment of B 4 C particles from the matrix.
