Synthesis Characterization and Adsorption Study of New Resin PVC8-Hydroxyquinoline -5-Sulfonic Acid with Toxic Metals

Abstract: A new chelating copolymer (8HQ-pvc) was prepared through condensation reaction of 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulphonic acid with poly (vinyl chloride) in the presence of pyridine as catalyst. This newly developed resin (8-HQ-pvc) has been used to prepare a series of six polymeric chelates by using Cr(III), Co(II), Ni(II),Cu(II), Cd (II) , Hg(II) and Pb(II) ions.
