Synthesis, Characterization and Antimicrobial Activity of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Pd(II) and Ru(III) Complexes with Clomiphene Citrate

Abstract: The new mononuclear neutral metal complexes of the type [M(L) 2 (H 2 O) n X n ] (where n= 0,1,2…; X= Cl; ½ SO 4 ; CH 3 COO; Br) by using the metal(II/III) salts {M = Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Pd(II) and Ru(III)} with the Clomiphene citrate (L) were synthesized. The ligand and its complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, ESR, 1 H-NMR, electronic spectral studies and magnetic susceptibility measurement, which reveals that L acts as a monodentate ligand. They simultaneously give Thermogravimetr… Show more

“…However, there are limited reports on the activity of clomiphene citrate against Gram-negative pathogens. Consistent with a previous report on the lack of any significant activity of clomiphene citrate against P. aeruginosa and Escherichia coli , we observed no activity against P. aeruginosa (Prasad et al, 2011 ). However, we observed a significant increase in activity when combined with colistin (Figure 3C ).…”

“…10 The metal complexes of the Schiff base ligand were illustrious owing to their easy preparation, firmness, wide implementations, and various biological advantages towards a few toxic metals. 11,12 Schiff base metal complexes have been examined because of their important and interesting characteristics. Some characteristics include their capability to bind with atoms, such as oxygen and nitrogen, the biological importance of antibacterial and antifungal properties, catalytic activity, hydrogenation, photochromism, and complexing properties.…”
