Synthesis, Characterization and Applications of Some Azo Dyes Derived from Various Aromatic Amines

Abstract: Azo dyes are the most important class of dyes accounting for more than 50 % of all commercial dyes or colourants. They have found many applications in various fields of science and technology [1,2]. The importance behind this study is to synthesize azo dyes containing heterocyclic rings due to their superior properties. The introduction of heterocyclic ring as coupling components have made possible the synthesis of good colourants with chromophoric strength and brilliant colours. Such dyes have high level dyei… Show more

“…2. The dye spectrum gives a collection of double and triple peaks that have a chemical shift (δ) within the range (7.08-8.49) ppm belonging to the eight protons of the aromatic rings, the single peak that has a chemical shift (δ) at site 12.24 ppm belonging to the proton of the OH group and the single peak that has a chemical shift (δ) at site 6.77 ppm belonging to the two protons of the NH2 group [17,18].…”

“…Industrially, artificial dyes particularly, simple acid dyes and metal complexes are mostly utilized due to their relatively good fastness to light, low-production cost and wide variation of colours [70]. However, unlike natural dyes which are non-toxic, most of these synthetic dyes are carcinogenic and mutagenic and are thus, detrimental to both humans and the environment [68,71].…”
