Synthesis, Characterization, and Evaluation of Antimicrobial and Antifertility Efficacy of Heterobimetallic Complexes of Copper (II)

Abstract: Heterobimetallic complexes of the copper with remarkable antimicrobial and antifertility action have been synthesized by the conventional method by reacting CuCl 2 and o-phenylenediamine in the methanolic medium forming the mononuclear complex of the type [Cu(C 6 H 8 N 2 ) 2 ]Cl 2 which was further treated with group 4 or 14 organometallic dichlorides (Ph 2 M Cl 2 , Me 2 M Cl 2 , and Cp 2 M Cl 2 ) [M = Sn, Si, and M = Ti, Zr] leading to formation of heterobimetallic complexes. All the synthesized complexes wer… Show more

“…Similarly, the strong absorption bands with stretching vibration of the carbonyl (C=O) groupwere seen at 1614 cm -1 and 1622 cm -1 regions in the spectrum [32,33]. The aromatic υ(C=C) absorption bands are at 1502 cm -1 and 1455 cm -1 respectively [34]. The complexes at (1456 and 1387) cm -1 are due to a characteristic band υ(C-N); this band denotes the carbon-nitrogen bond order intermediate between a single bond.…”

“…Along with the removal of HCl molecules, nitrogen undergoes deprotonation and forms bonds with other metal ions of Group 4 or 14. 42 The bands at 2,999 and 1,431 cm À1 , which correspond to the ν(C-H) and ν(C-C) vibrations, respectively, and the stretching vibrations at 1,018 and 812 cm À1 show that the cyclopentadienyl ring exists in some trinuclear heterobimetallic complexes. Furthermore, appearance of bands due to the (Ti-C 5 H 5 ) and (Zr-C 5 H 5 ) appeared at 444 and 442 cm À1 , respectively.…”

“…The treatment has significantly reduced sperm density and motility, which indicates severe antifertility action. 42 A series of biologically effective trinuclear heterobimetallic complexes derived by 2,6-diaminopyridine was investigated and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. The in vitro antimicrobial evaluation was performed out against a number of microorganisms, and cytotoxicity evaluation was carried out against human cell lines.…”
