Synthesis, characterization and liquid–liquid extraction properties of new methoxyaminobiphenylglyoxime derivatives and their complexes with some transition metals

Abstract: In this study, three new aminobiphenylglyoximes, [L 1 H 2 ] N-(2-methoxy)aminobiphenylglyoxime, [L 2 H 2 ] N-(3-methoxy)aminobiphenylglyoxime and L[ 3 H 2 ] N-(4-methoxy)aminobiphenylglyoxime have been synthesized by the reaction of (E,E)-4¢-biphenylchloroglyoxime with 2-Methoxyaniline, 3-Methoxyaniline and 4-Methoxyaniline in absolute ethanol. The preparation Ni II , Co II and Cu II complexes of these ligands are described. The ligands and their complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, mass, H … Show more

“…Thus, the determination of trace amounts of these metals are becoming increasingly important because of the increased interest in environmental pollution. For this purpose, many oxime derivatives have been synthesized and their extraction properties investigated by solvent extraction [11][12][13][14][15]. There are many processes, such as solvent extraction, ion exchange, adsorption and complexing that can be used for the removal of metals from wastewaters.…”

“…The Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) complexes of the (1E, 2E)-(4-bromophenyl)(hydroxyimino)acetaldehyde oxime were obtained in ethanol by the addition of sufficient 1% KOH in EtOH to increase the pH to 5.0-5.5. In all of these complexes, the metal/ligand ratio determined by the elemental analysis was found to be 1 : 2 as found for most of the oximes [20][21][22][23][24]. The structures of the complexes are shown in Figure 2.…”

“…9,10 Benzilmonoximes are of special interest owing to their biological activities, and semi-conducting properties. [11][12][13] On the other hand Chromium(III) is an essential trace mineral that is involved in the regulation of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism and insufficient dietary intake of it is associated with increased susceptibility to diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. 14,15 While the role of Cr(III) in normal glucose metabolism is well recognized, its use as a therapeutic agent in diabetesis controversial because of conflicting human clinical data.…”
