Synthesis, characterization and optoelectronic investigations of bithiophene substituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives as green fluorescent materials

Abstract: A series of novel unsymmetrical bithiophene substituted oxadiazole derivatives 2(a-e) were designed and synthesised by employing palladium catalysed Suzuki cross coupling reaction. These bipolar molecules consist of bithiophene as an electron donor unit (D) and electron transporting oxadiazole as acceptor unit (A). The structural integrity of all the new compounds was confirmed by 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and LC-MS analysis. The photo physical and electrochemical properties have been studied in detail using UV-Vis ab… Show more

“…, there is one endothermic base line shift and one endothermic peak in the DSC thermograms of PTh and its nanocomposites. The endothermic peak at about 200°C is generally attributed to the thermal decomposition reaction while the curve appears an endothermic shift at about 125°C is assigned to the glass transition temperature ( T g ) of the polymer matrix . Meguaded et al determined T g of pure PTh as 170°C, while it is calculated as 122.80°C in this study.…”

“…It is clear that the thermal and morphological stability closely correlate to the molecular weights and molecular size. The introduction of the tert ‐butylphenyl moiety greatly improves the T 5d and T g as compared to those of a bipolar molecule without such substitution reported previously . The thermal and morphological stabilities of 3(a–g) were measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).…”

[c] The emission spectra were measured in solid state film. [d] Obtained from DSC and TGA measurements; T g ‐glass transition temperature, T m ‐melting temperature and T c ‐crystallization temperature. Ref 1 ‐ Coumarin 440 [54] Ref 2 ‐ Coumarin 480…”
