Synthesis, characterization and self‐assemblies of magnetite nanoparticles

Abstract: Monodisperse Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles (NPs) with a narrow size distribution were synthesized by a hightemperature solution-phase method. The diameter of magnetic NPs was tuned from 2 to 13 nm by varying the reaction conditions, and the monolayer and multilayer self-assemblies of the NPs were obtained. A few kinds of the assemblies are presented and the reasons that drive the particles to form the superlattices are discussed. The physical-property-measurement system (PPMS) results showed that the as-synthesized N… Show more

“…The figures show that the peaks located at 710.5 and 724.2 eV correspond to Fe2p 3/2 and Fe2p 1/2 , and the peaks of 531.9 eV could be attributed to O1s. The data are also consistent with the reported values of Fe 3 O 4 in the literature [22].…”

“…Chen and Xu [7] hydrothermally synthesized nanocrystalline Fe 3 O 4 powders from iron (P) 2-methoxy ethoxides (Fe(OMOE) 2 ), using 2-methoxyethanol (MOE)-water mixed solvent as the reaction medium. Yang et al [8] carried out a hydrothermal process to obtain monodispersed Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles in Fe(acac) 3 , 1,2-dodecanediol, oleic acid and oleylamine (2:5:3:3 in mol) mixed phenyl ether solution. Jiang and Kim [9] synthesized iron oxide nanocomposites from thermal decomposition of iron(P) acetylacetonate in organic medium, in the presence of linear o-functionalized polystyrenes.…”
