Synthesis, characterization, surface morphology properties and effects of annealing temperature on optical properties of poly(2-(((5-phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl)imino)methyl)phenyl methacrylate) (PTMPMA)

Abstract: In this study, a new 5-phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole-containing vinyl monomer and its polymer were synthesized. The characterizations of the ligand, monomer and polymer were carried out using FTIR, UV-Vis, 1 H-NMR, elemental analysis and gel permeation chromatography techniques. The roughness average, root-mean-square roughness, surface skewness and surface kurtosis parameters of the poly(PTMPMA) film were found to be 1.98 nm, 2.84 nm, 1.529 and 5.777, respectively. Effects of the annealing temperature on optical p… Show more

“…The obtained optical direct energy-gap value (1.61 eV) from the plot of ( h 2 versus E of the poly(PNPMMA) is close to value (1.62 eV) of the first decrease of transmittance spectra of the poly(PNPMMA). The direct optical band gap (E gd = 1 61 eV) of the poly(PNPMMA) is higher than the direct optical band gap (1.38 eV) of the poly(Schiff base) 34 and is lower than the E gd value (3.31 eV) of the poly(PTMPMA) 47 in the literature. Similarly, the dependence on photon energy E of ( h 1/2 for indirect band gap region of the poly(PNPMMA) thin film is shown in Figure 11.…”

“…As seen in Figures 12(a), (b), the optical conductivity has a strong dependence on the frequency and the imaginary parts of the optical conductivity of the poly(PNPMMA) are higher than the real parts of the optical conductivity. The real and imaginary parts of the optical conductivity of the poly(PNPMMA) are lower than CuSe thin films, 41 the poly(PTMPMA), 47 poly(Schiff base) 34 and TDCV-TPA. 45 …”
