Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Photoluminescent Properties of Ternary Cd(II)/Triazolate/Chloride System

Abstract: Solvothermal reactions of cadmium chloride and 1,2,4-triazole (Htrz) in different solvent mediums have successfully synthesized five ternary Cd(II)/trz/Cl(-) complexes, [Cd(trz)Cl]·H(2)O (1·H(2)O), [Cd(4)(trz)(5)Cl(3)(H(2)O)]·(THF)(1.25)·(H(2)O)(2.5) (2·1.25THF·2.5H(2)O), [Cd(3)(trz)(2)Cl(MeCN)] (3), [Cd(3)(trz)(4)Cl(2)]·(H(2)O)(0.5) (4·0.5H(2)O), and [Cd(4)(trz)(6)Cl(2)(H(2)O)(0.5)]·(H(2)O)(3.5) (5·3.5H(2)O). All of these five coordination polymers have three-dimensional (3-D) structural features, which are c… Show more

“…The N–Cd–N bond angles are close to 90° or 180°. Six Cd–N bonds around the Cd II ion are non‐equivalent, with distances ranging from 2.284(4) to 2.386(4) Å, which are within the normal range observed for other octahedral Cd II complexes 22. The Cd–N bpit bond lengths [2.386(4) and 2.420(4) Å] are slightly longer than that of Cd–N NCS [2.284(4) Å].…”

“…The solid-state fluorescent spectra of free ligand, (2), and (3) at room temperature revealed maximal emission peaks at 401, 412, 448 nm, respectively. [19][20][21] Conclusions Three zinc complexes with the ligand 1-[(1H-benzimidazole-2-yl)methyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrazole have been synthesised and characterised by X-ray diffraction. The powder X-ray diffraction patterns (PXRD) of complex (1′) proved that the crystal lattice was the same as (1) (Fig.…”

“…Polyaza heterocyclic compounds have attracted considerable attention as useful ligands to produce coordination polymers with useful functional properties, such as gas storage , magnetism (Ma et al, 2010;Wang et al, 2010) and catalysis (Wu et al, 2005). Among these polyaza heterocyclic compounds, 1,2,4-triazole and its derivatives have been extensively applied as organic spacers in constructing MOFs because of their potential for 1,2 -, 2,4and 1,2,4 -bridging linkages (Lin et al, 2008;Zhai et al, 2007;Wei et al, 2010). Generally, the 1,2,4 -bridging mode is preferred, if the ligand is deprotonated (trz).…”
