Synthesis New Pyridinium Salts as Corrosion Inhibitors for Mild Steel in 1 M H2SO4

Abstract: Some new pyridinium salts, namely 4-(4-Chloro-benzylidene-hydrazinocarbonyl)-1-phenyl-pyridinium bromide, C1; 4-(4-Chloro-benzylidene-hydrazinocarbonyl)-1-butyl-pyridinium bromide, C2; 4-(4-Chloro-benzylidene-hydrazinocarbonyl)-1-phencyl-pyridinium bromide, C3; were synthesized and Corrosion inhibitors for mild steel were tested in a 1M H2SO4aqueous solution at 20ºC for 24 hours using weight loss measurements. The findings revealed that the inhibition efficiency of all pyridinium brom… Show more

“…therefore, the expected adsorption process on the surface is physical adsorption, and this is consistent with what was found that the inhibition efficiency decreases with increasing temperature [14].the values of the corosion rate can be used to analyze the adsorption mechanism according to Freundlich equation, which was calculated using equation (7) [15] 𝜃 = 𝐾𝑓𝐶𝑖𝑛 ……………………………. ( 6) 𝑙𝑛𝜃 = 𝑙𝑛𝑘𝑓 + 𝑛𝑙𝑚𝐶𝑖……………………………… (7) ln θ values are plotted against ln Ci, the slope represents n values, and the intercept represents ln K ads [10]. Figure (10) represents the relationship between ln θ and ln Ci.From the values of 4), it is clear that the Freundlich isotherm applies well with this system.…”

Figure (10) represents the relationship between ln θ and ln Ci.From the values of 4), it is clear that the Freundlich isotherm applies well with this system. But the Langmuir isotherm does not apply to system adsorption because its correlation coefficient has lower values.…”
