Synthesis of 3D Flower‐like Nanocomposites of Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon Nanosheets Embedded with Hollow Cobalt(II,III) Oxide Nanospheres for Lithium Storage

Abstract: Despite a high theoretical specific capacity (890 mA h g−1) as an anode material for Li‐ion batteries, Co3O4 has not been used in practice due to its inferior mechanical stability and poor electrical conductivity. Herein, we synthesized three‐dimensional (3D) flower‐like nanocomposites consisting of nitrogen‐doped carbon nanosheets decorated with hollow Co3O4 nanospheres (H‐Co3O4@N‐CNSs) with an ultrahigh loading mass (83 wt %) of Co3O4. The H‐Co3O4@N‐CNSs exhibited excellent performance of 750 mA h g−1 at 500… Show more

“…Inorganic interface layers were initially grafted onto the Zn electrode through the doctor blade coating method. [ 130,131 ] This interface fabrication technique features a simple process and low cost with heavy dependence on binders (such as poly(vinylidene fluoride)). For example, a nanoscale CaCO 3 coating layer with a developed pore structure was reported to favor position‐selected Zn deposition and thus improved the symmetric cell lifespan by sevenfold ( Figure ).…”

“…Therefore, these sharp‐tip and vertically‐distributing Zn flakes with hexagonal topology are Zn dendrites in reality . This neutral dendrite is really different from that formed in alkaline electrolyte with moss‐like structure consisting of nanocones, reflecting a distinct formation mechanism (Figure S5, Supporting Information) . The edge size of this neutral Zn dendrite obviously increased from ≈0.69 to 4.37 µm at magnified current densities of 2–10 mA cm −2 while the number correspondingly decreased from ≈39 to 3 (Figure e,f; Figure S4b, Supporting Information).…”

“…Stable and financial electrode material is significant, to obtain capacitor and battery with high energy density, under the background of economic and environmental crisis, where much research work has been done by pioneers [1, 2]. Some famous materials have been developed and investigated by researchers, such as the classical Li ions based battery electrode materials [3–7], in this sphere, some typical complex materials have been composed, for example the lithium‐oxygen [8, 9], MoS 2 [10], hollow cobalt [11]. Na ions based battery, namely the famous NASICON matrix had been researched by pioneers [2].…”
