Synthesis of (±)‐Bakuchiol via a Pot‐Economy Approach

Abstract: A rapid synthetic route toward (±)‐Bakuchiol is presented in 29% overall yield. After the sole all‐carbon quaternary carbon center is created via allylboration of 2‐aryl acetaldehyde, a "Pot‐Economy" approach including mesylation, elimination, and desilylation was realized in the presence of tBuOK under ambient temperature to provide (±)‐Bakuchiol.

“…Several protocols have been followed to analyse the anti-oxidant property of seeds and leaf extracts of P. bituminosa, P. glandulosa, P. corylifolia, P. plicata, P. esculenta and P. glandulosa. The phenolic compounds obtained from different extracts were found to protect the biological membranes from oxidative stresses (Haraguchi et al, 2002;Guo et al, 2005;Borchardt et al, 2008;Kim et al, 2013;Madrid et al, 2013;Huang et al, 2014). The antioxidant activity of fruit extracts of Psoralea plicata was evaluated by DPPH assay.…”
