Synthesis of Biomass-Derived Nitrogen-Doped Porous Carbon Nanosheests for High-Performance Supercapacitors

Abstract: Graphene-like two-dimensional carbon nanosheets with properly modulated compositions and porosity are of particular importance for robust capacitance harvesting. Nevertheless, the large-scale and cost-effective production of such nanostructures still remains a great challenge. Herein, we innovatively produce nitrogen-doped porous carbon nanosheets using pine nut shells, an abundant biomass waste, as the precursor, under the synergetic effect of KOH and melamine during the activation process. The sole activatio… Show more

“…4d), at low frequency range, Nyquist plot of each electrode displays a quasi-vertical line, demonstrating the relative low Warburg impedance and fast ion diffusion rate. 68 At middle-high frequency region, the semicircles express the message of charge transfer resistance (R ct ), which is calculated to be 12.4 U for NLDPC-700-4-2, 4.9 U for NLDPC-800-4-2, 24.7 U for NLDPC-900-4-2, 9.1 U for NLDPC-800-4-1, and 9.6 U for NLDPC-800-4-3. Among the above values, the NLDPC-800-4-2 sample possesses the smallest R ct on account of its most smooth diffusion channel for the adsorption/desorption of electrolyte-ions.…”

“…As shown in Figure 4a, the isotherm profile of UPZCNs-K4 can be classified as I type according to IUPAC classification. [26] The steep increase of nitrogen uptake and high adsorption at very low relative pressure indicates that carbon samples are rich in narrow pores. In addition, it can be seen from Figure 4b that the addition of PVP increases the mesopores of the material, which is beneficial for the rapid adsorption and diffusion of ions, resulting in excellent rate performance.…”

“…From a sustainability viewpoint, the hunt of renewable carbon reservoir and research of economical yet straightforward assembly methods are of selective interest in producing GN and their carbon-based analogs within existing power storage purposes. Although, the standard economic policies acquired so far for GN and GN-like substances construction yet cannot compete with the generation of AC [70]. Chemical assembly of GN, GO, and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) are exposed in Figure 7 [71].…”
