After using primaquine in medicine and veterinary medicine, it is not decomposed completely at municipal wastewater treatment plants and therefore is discharged into the environment. We studied changes in the structure of primaquin by the fungus Beauveria bassiana, which is widespread in nature. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) showed the presence of two metabolites. Spectra of proton nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectra of metabolites showed the formation of N-acetyl primaquine and N-formyl primaquine.
