Synthesis of borate ester-grafted carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber and its use as electron acceptor to dissolve lithium perchlorate

Abstract: The boron atom of borate ester‐grafted carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (XNBR‐g‐BE) receives electron pairs from ClO4− anions and facilitates quite well the dissolution of LiClO4 salt in the XNBR‐g‐BE matrix.

“…The intensity of the absorption bands at 1728 cm −1 (stretching frequency of >CO of free carboxylic groups) and 1698 cm −1 (stretching frequency of >CO of hydrogen‐bonded acid dimer) corresponding to the carboxyl group in XNBR [ 44 ] decreased and a new absorption band emerged at 1667 cm −1 in the spectrum of FXNBR was assigned to >CO stretching of the amide (>CONH 2 ) functionality. [ 45 ] It was observed that the intense absorption band at 2238 cm −1 due to CN stretching in XNBR was not affected in FXNBR after grafting FA on XNBR.…”
