Synthesis of Environmentally Friendly Rayon‐Graphene Oxide Nano Composite for Decontamination of Water

Abstract: The availability of clean water in the today's world is one of the main concerns of scientific communities because of addition of untreated waste water to natural resources. Here, we have designed a Rayon Graphene Oxide Composite (RGOC) using cotton and graphene oxide for water decontamination. The synthesized composites were characterized by various techniques and evaluated for the removal of Methylene Blue (MB) from water using batch absorption kinetics. The re-usability of adsorbent shows high removal effic… Show more

“…[18] The re-usability of the designed composite is verified with high removal efficiency up to five cycles. [18] The nanocomposite made of nickel oxide and carboxymethyl cellulose is also reported to be used to remove MB dye from wastewater through a spontaneous and endothermic process. [19] Further, the roles of pH, nanocomposite concentration, contact time, temperature, and dye concentration are investigated to find out the best efficiency of the MB dye removal process.…”

“…The mechanism to remove pollutants from wastewater is discussed here in terms of pi‐pi interaction, ion exchange, surface complexation, and electrostatic attraction [17] . Both cotton and graphene oxide are also reported to be used to design a Rayon‐Graphene Oxide (GO) composite to remove methylene blue (MB) from water [18] . The re‐usability of the designed composite is verified with high removal efficiency up to five cycles [18] .…”

“…To find the removal process for TNT on the TGO surface, pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetics equations 37 were used, and the results obtained from the plots are shown in Table 2. It is evident from the table that the removal process followed a pseudo-second-order reaction as the experimental value of q e is near to the calculated value.…”
