Synthesis of ErBa2Cu3O7−δ Superconductor Solder for the Fabrication of Superconducting Joint between Gdba2cu3o7−δ Coated Conductor

Abstract: ErBa2Cu3O7−δ (Er123) superconductor is one of the best candidates of superconductor solder for the fabrication of superconducting joint between GdBa2Cu3O7−δ (Gd123) coated conductor, due to its high Tc value (93 K) and highest optimized oxygen annealing temperature among RE123 compounds. In this paper, we systematically research the effect of sintering parameters on the phase formation, microstructure and superconducting properties of Er123 powder. The optimized synthesis route to acquire high purity Er123 pow… Show more

“…Due to their zero-resistance property and diamagnetism, superconducting materials have attracted significant attention since their discovery [1][2][3]. Single domain (RE)Ba 2 Cu 3 O 7−δ (REBCO) (RE a is rare-earth element, such as Nd, Sm, Gd, and Y) bulk superconductors have been widely investigated during the past three decades because of their remarkable potential in various applications areas [4][5][6][7][8]. Compared to the growth of YBCO and GdBCO bulk superconductors, single domain SmBCO bulk superconductors attract greater attention because their peak effect allows a high critical current density (J c ) to be maintained in a larger applied magnetic field [9,10].…”

“…Z. Zhang et al [6] optimized the synthesis of ErBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−δ (Er-123) to be used as a SPC joint between commercial a GdBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−δ (Gd-123)-coated conductor. They systematically studied the effect of sintering parameters on the phase formation, microstructure and superconducting properties of Er-123 powder to obtain a high performing SPC joint.…”
