Synthesis of Hollow PVP/Ag Nanoparticle Composite Fibers via Electrospinning under a Dense CO2 Environment

Abstract: Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) is used in a wide variety of applications because of its unique chemical and physical features, including its biocompatibility and low toxicity. In this study, hollow PVP/silver nanoparticle (PVP/Ag NP) composite fibers were synthesized. Stable, spherical Ag NPs, with an average size of 14.4 nm, were produced through a facile sonochemical reduction method. A small amount of starch as a potent reducing and stabilizing agent was used during the reduction of Ag ions to Ag NPs. The fabri… Show more

“…In contrast, PVP exhibited only one DSC peak (∼91 °C), representing the removal of the solvent or volatile compounds, accompanied by a weight loss (∼14%) in TGA. 73 Following the introduction of tartaric acid and heat treatment, distinctive patterns emerged in DSC and TGA for F1-110-80 and F3-80-120. The endothermic melting peaks of F1-110-80 and F3-80-120 were observed at 235.82 and 236.71 °C, respectively.…”

“…The preparation of NNHs by loading the bactericidal nanoparticles in the precursor solution begins with the mixed uniform solution, which is prepared into fibers by ESP. Mainstream bactericidal nanoparticles mainly include metal (AuNPs [135,136], AgNPs [137,138]) and metal oxides (ZnO [139], CuO [140] and TiO 2 [141]), etc. The accumulation of AgNPs in mitochondria leads to mitochondrial dysfunction.…”

“…Electrospinning is facile technology to prepare continuous polymeric fibers with diameters ranging from ten nanometers and several microns from polymer solutions or melts. 11,12 These fibers form a pile of random non-woven fiber materials, which have larger surface areas, high porosities, and interconnected threedimensional network structures. Till now, a larger number of natural and synthetic polymers has been electrospun into ultra-thin fibers and used as the supports of palladium species, such as chitosan, poly(vinyl alcohol), and polyimide.…”

“…Therefore, it is desirable to prepare heterogeneous palladium catalysts with both large surface area and high mechanical properties. Electrospinning is facile technology to prepare continuous polymeric fibers with diameters ranging from ten nanometers and several microns from polymer solutions or melts 11,12 . These fibers form a pile of random non‐woven fiber materials, which have larger surface areas, high porosities, and interconnected three‐dimensional network structures.…”
