Micro-laminated ZrO 2 /Al 2 O 3 interlayer was prepared between sol-gel fiber-reinforced thermal barrier coating (TBC) and Ni-based superalloy by cathodic electrodeposition. Micro-laminated ZrO 2 /Al 2 O 3 interlayer was composed of ZrO 2 and Al 2 O 3 alternating layers, which demonstrated excellent oxidation resistance. Scratching and cyclic oxidation tests were performed to evaluate the bonding strength and oxidation resistance of the solgel TBCs with micro-laminated ZrO 2 /Al 2 O 3 interlayers. The results indicated that the bonding strength between TBCs and Ni-based superalloy was improved by the microlaminated ZrO 2 /Al 2 O 3 interlayer; and the oxidation resistance of Ni-based substrate was significantly improved due to the interlayer This kind of micro-laminated ZrO 2 /Al 2 O 3 interlayer may have potential application as the bond coat in TBCs systems.
