Synthesis of inorganic nanomaterials

Abstract: Synthesis forms a vital aspect of the science of nanomaterials. In this context, chemical methods have proved to be more effective and versatile than physical methods and have therefore, been employed widely to synthesize a variety of nanomaterials, including zero-dimensional nanocrystals, one-dimensional nanowires and nanotubes as well as two-dimensional nanofilms and nanowalls. Chemical synthesis of inorganic nanomaterials has been pursued vigorously in the last few years and in this article we provide a per… Show more

“…We initiated this work by doping simple alkane thiol-passivated GNPs in DLCs. 39 Hexanethiolate-stabilized gold clusters with a core diameter of 1.6 nm and an average composition of Au 140 [S(CH 2 ) 5 CH 3 ] 53 were prepared and dispersed in three different DLCs, namely HHTT, hexapentyloxytriphenylene (HPT) and hexakis(4-nonylphenylethynyl) benzene, by mixing the two components in a sonicator, that is, DLC and GNP, in dichloromethane followed by removal of the solvent and drying under vacuum. The as-formed nanocomposites were analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing optical microscopy (POM).…”

“…However, among all the QDs, CdSe QDs have received the most attention in materials science. A large number of synthetic methods have been developed [52][53][54] after the pioneering work of Murray et al 55 on the synthesis of high-quality monodisperse Cd-based QDs. On the one hand, mesophases have been used to prepare these NPs.…”

“…It is known that the phases, sizes, morphology, and dimensionality of the nanomaterial have great influence on the modifications of properties and functionalities. Hence, many research efforts have focused to control such important factors to attain the featured nanomaterials [3]. Moreover, synthesis of nanoparticles in the eco-friendly green synthesis method is challenging aspect in current nanotechnology.…”

“…Preparation of nanoparticles is generally done by liquid-phase synthses including coprecipitation [12]- [14], colloidal [15], sol-gel [16]- [19], solvothermal [20]- [22], and so on. Nanophosphors are also normally produced via liquid-phase synthses [4], [6], [7], [9], [11], [23].…”
